2D and 3D payments

Hello all,

This article is to explain the difference between a 2D and a 3D payment securities, and the usage of the same.

The difference between a 2D MID and a 3D MID is that the latter supports 3D secure payments. A 3D secure payment is the one in which the cardholder has an option of setting up an extra security verification step for making online transactions using the card. Basically, it allows customers to create and assign a password to their card that is then verified whenever a transaction is processed through a site that supports the use of the scheme.

The addition of password protection allows extra security on transactions that are processed online.

Note: Instamojo supports both 2D and 3D secure payments.
